Ajit-JogiRAIPUR: Taking a u-turn from his earlier stance, former Chhattisgarh chief minister Ajit Jogi has said that only Congress president Sonia Gandhi has right to take decision on his retirement.
“I had taken decision of retirement. But I have no right to take any decision over my retirement. Only Soniaji has right to take final decision for me. Whatever decision she will take, will be acceptable to me,” said Jogi in Raipur yesterday.
Earlier, Jogi had decided to hang his boots for repeatedly being side-lined by the party high command.
The senior Congress leader had told an English daily, “It’s a personal decision and has nothing to do with any events.”
Jogi had candidly admitted, “No one has come and told me to either contest the polls or say that my decision is incorrect, so I presume that they too do not want me to be in the fray, which is absolutely fine with me.”

protests-6_660_122312031939GHAZIABAD: Amid reports about VK Singh contesting from Ghaziabad in the upcoming Lok Sabha election, the former Army chief and now Bharatiya Janata Party leader visited the town Monday. He however faced protest by a group of BJP workers. The protesters, numbering around 10, shouted slogans against Singh and some of them even heckled few BJP office bearers.

The protesters shouted “General Go back” stressing that they wanted local party workers as candidates and not paratroopers. Police had to be called in to bring the situation under control. The party workers were reportedly protesting at the behest of local leaders desirous of getting ticket from the constituency.

After the announcement that BJP president Rajnath Singh will be contesting from Lucknow, speculations are rife that VK Singh will be contesting from Ghaziabad.

Asked about chances that he may get ticket from Ghaziabad, VK Singh said he was ready to contest from any constituency that the party gave him.

He also took a dig at Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal over his comments on media.

Asked about the 2002 Gujarat riots, VK Singh raked up the 1984 anti-Sikh riots stressing that most of the clashes had taken place under Congress rule. He however said that one should try and find a solution to the problem rather than trying to rake up issues for political mileage
