A customer in California has posted a video on Facebook claiming that KFC served him a deep fried rat. The video and the picture uploaded by Devorise Dixon has gone viral on social networks and sparked a wide-spread furor.
The customer, Devorise Dixon, was quoted by news websites as saying he was served ‘a strangely shaped chicken breast’ which he purchased from KFC’s outlet in Watts, California, in the United States. But on closer inspection he spotted a ‘tail’ that later turned out to be a fried rat.
The Mirror had a quote from Dixon: “As I bit into it I noticed that it was very hard and rubbery which made me look at it. As I looked down at it I noticed that it was in a shape of a rat with a tail.
“It sent deep chills throughout my whole body! I’ve been feeling weird ever since. It’s time for a lawyer, be safe don’t eat fast food!”
Kentucky Fried Chicken has however denied the customer’s claim. A KFC representative said, “Following an immediate investigation, no evidence was found to support this claim,”
This is not the first time that KFC’s standards have been questioned. There have been reports in the past about KFC being infested with rats.
The report follows a nationwide ban on Nestle’s Maggi noodles in India after tests deemed them to contain “unsafe and hazardous” amounts of lead.
Meanwhile, the US Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) has claimed that the products from popular Indian snack brand, Haldiram, have ‘pesticides and other harmful bacteria in high levels’ and declared them unfit for consumption.
